Newsletter 27th May 2009
Hello!
May's a great month isn't it!? The sun is shining occasionally, the birds are singing loudly, and there were two bank holidays. What's not to love about Springtime? In this newsletter you'll find some great news on the Ashby Arts Festival so read on, enjoy, and have a wonderful June!

Ashby Arts Festival harnesses young talent!
This year’s Ashby Arts Festival logo is based on an image produced by Ashby student George Chinnery. George designed and produced a 4ft by 4ft work of art called “Beauty & the Beast” for last year’s Outdoor Gallery. This featured a peacock on a wall. The striking image with its eye catching colours and shapes was chosen by this year’s Committee as their logo. George Chinnery said,
"The focus of the painting, a peacock, symbolises beauty amongst the polluted environment of today. So many of our streets seem lined with litter and I thought using plastic bags would make an interesting contrast, merging into the image of the peacock. I was very excited to hear my painting would be a motif for this year's festival."
Watch out for it on fliers and posters round town!
