Concert in a Day - Grade 2+

For players of woodwind or brass instruments (min Grade 2).  Workshop to create a concert for parents at 6pm.  Great fun with a musical theme 'A Day in Disneyland', 'Summer Nights' from Grease and  'The Incredibles'

The Telstar Swing Band 

Friday 21st Aug  8.15pm -11pm

This 10 piece little big band are guaranteed to have you feet tapping to instantly recognisable standards from the swing era, Glenn Miller, Dixie, Basie, Ellington, Jazz and more...

 

Sarah Woodall is the vocalist with the Telstar Band. She has worked with many big bands around the country and is currently the resident singer with the Ashby Big Band. She is also in demand as a show singer and has featured in Les Mis, Cats, Oklahoma, West Side Story to name but a few. Sarah will be performing Ella Fitzgerald's versions of How High the Moon and Mack the Knife, Norah Jones Don't Know why, Fever, Crazy and many more.

 

Graham Sutton will be the Compere for the night. Graham is a well known personality in the Brass Band world. A very talented Tuba player and accomplished Conductor, Graham will swap the Baton for the microphone and bring the band and the audience together to make a memorable night.

FIDDLING FOLK WORKSHOP

Saturday, 22nd August, 2009 10 2.00pm.

Top UK folk fiddle player, Tom Kitching, leads this informal workshop which is suitable for both beginners and more advanced players. Tom was a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards. This workshop represents a unique chance of benefiting from the expertise of one of the country’s finest young fiddle players. Book early as last year the workshop was over subscribed!

SINGING FOLK HARMONY SINGING WORKSHOP

Sunday, 23rd August, 2009  10.00 a.m. 4.00 p.m.

Ever been told you can’t sing? Well it simply isn’t true! Liz Underhill will prove it to you in this fun filled day of acapella harmony singing. Liz is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network which firmly believes that everyone can sing, no matter what you have been told in the past!

You will be singing traditional folk, world music and some old sixties favourites courtesy of the Beatles and Simon and Garfunkle.

No previous singing experience is necessary. Neither do you need to be able to read music as all parts are taught by ear and you most definitely will NOT be asked to sing solo!
